White-headed Duck
Not for the faint hearted – this is a tour for serious birders and serious birds as we have to cover a lot of ground. However, we have fine tuned our itinerary to maximize birding time and truly enjoy our trip. The tour will begin with the pick up at Tel-Aviv Ben-Gurion airport before heading north along the Carmel coast, east to the Hula Valley, Beit shean Valley, the Dead-Sea area, down to the Western Negev and Nizzana area and back to Tel-Aviv. This gives us the opportunity to visit some of the best wetlands in the Western Palearctic as well as some superb desert areas and wooded hills and valleys. To keep the feel of seeing the real Israel, we spend most nights in comfortable Kibbutz guesthouses. The terrain is mostly easy, but will involve long days in sometimes hot conditions. Your principal tour leader will be Jonathan Merav who will be assisted by an Oriole Birding leader and you can expect to see approximately 170 species.
